Genital Warts
Genital HPV is the most common viral sexually transmitted infection in the United States. As many as one million cases of genital warts are diagnosed each year. HPV, like all viruses, is a very small organism that needs to infect cells in order to survive. There are approximately 80 known types of HPV. Some types can cause warts on the hands or feet, while others can result in genital warts (condyloma). A person can be infected simultaneously with multiple HPV types.
